I went with the chronological calendar this year because it tries to put the Bible in order of the events that they happened. As a result, it skips around from Genesis, to Job, to Pslams, etc. It helps to make the yearly reading more like reading a novel. (Not to diminish the importance of the Bible, but we all know that it can be a tough read in some places.

YouVersion.com has some pretty cool tools. I like how they give you a journal right along side of the text to take notes. In 2009 they plan on adding the capability to record personal reflections using your web cam. Cool.

YouVersion.com also has an iPhone app and a handy mobile version which works great from your cell phone.

What are you using? Have you ever read the Bible in its entirety? I’ve done it only once before.

We at Podango believe that you, our customers, are our most valuable
asset. Given this belief, we have always done our best to be honest
and forthright in our dealings with you. The current uncertainties of
the financial market has affected many of us in this nation. As of
last week, Podango is no longer immune to it’s effects. Our ability to
continue operations past the end of this year (2008) is in question.
 
Given the structure of PSBL you should have the source and output
files of all your shows on your computer and/or hosting sites other
than Podango. If this is not the case, you should take steps to move
it to another service.
 
We know of no other assembly service like PSBL or we would provide you
a reference. We may be able to keep this service running if you the
existing customers are willing to pay a monthly service fee for it
use.
 
If you are willing to pay a monthly fee starting at the first of the
year please respond to info@podango.com and let us know how much you
would be willing to pay monthly. This feedback will allow us to
determine if we can get enough subscribers at a reasonable price to
continue providing PSBL.
 
As soon as we have enough data to determine the viability of
continuing the service, we will notify you.
 
As of today, the last day of operation for the PSBL service will be
December 31st.
 
Again I personally apologize for this short notice. Let us know if you
would like to continue under a service fee.

We ordered this JR-700 bullet train from eBay for our 4 year old son who is in love with trains. The train ended up shipping from Japan where the JR (Japan Railways) 700, and 500, are popular.
This documentation was included in the package.

It went quite well despite a few technical difficulties.
 
Lessons learned:
* Volunteers need to be fully engaged
* Word of mouth is the best advertising
* A benefit of practice is that you free up down time to socialize with people you never met. You can’t do that if you’re trying to workout technical issues five minutes before showtime.

From their website:

“Kiva lets you lend to specific entrepreneur in the developing world – empowering them to lift themselves out of poverty.”

Due to the generosity of contributors, Kiva personnel have had to limit donation amounts to $25 per entrepreneur to give everyone the opportunity to donate. Now that’s a good problem to have…

From what I’ve read, everything seems very secure and entrepreneurs are checked out before they can participate in the program. The site has an extensive FAQ section for the wary.

Thanks to Mike from the (I’m subscribed) for posting a techie question on the . I would not have checked it out if you hadn’t mentioned it. Talk about social!
