(NaPoWriMo Day #16)

I am struggling to know you
Your words strung around my mind
Like Christmas tree lights
Around a dying, brittle tree

I try to deconstruct your meaning
But the words become tangled
Hyperbole and simile are lost to me

I am learning to create you
The molding of your form eludes me
Like clay in a student’s hands
Exotic vases become ashtrays

  1. I think the last two lines are brillant and could be the beginning of a truly fabulous poem! -tmi

  2. Thanks, Thom.
That’s a benefit of this project. Lots of material for future poems.
